Hello all, I hope the weather isn't too wet wherever you are. So far, it's just been flash floods and lakes overflowing, no biggie.
Oh, what's that? I didn't make an April Newsletter? Um, yeah, lemme just look in my bag of excuses...empty? Huh, I gotta restock that....
In all seriousness though, I truly did miss the mark. I'm working on a new schedule that should hopefully be more sustainable and consistent, but only time and God knows.

For this month however. I do have updates! As anyone who has tried knows, crocheting is definitely SLOW fashion and SLOW art. Mix that with a full schedule and everything feels like it moves at glacial speeds. To be specific, I JUST finished the main body of the moon phase convertible backpack that I started over a month ago. Let me explain.

With the celestial theme, I wanted to make a few specific items for sure. On that list was a backpack with a front and back containing a 2 x 2 granny square grid. I also happened to have the pattern of 4 different moon phases. If you're following the logic, the backpack morphed into a moon cycle theme, from new moon to full moon and backpack. I wanted both sides to be visible and accessible, so I decided the backpack needed to be convertible to make that happen. Brainstorming how to do that, plus making the interior fabric lining, have turned this project into a much longer process, but something I thing is definitely worthwhile. As of now, I only need to create the straps and an interior pocket, then the backpack is complete!
I will likely take a break to just make pouches for a while before returning to the theme list. The new moon looks almost exactly like a plain colored pouch, so that will likely get skipped, but the other moon phase will look nice.
I realized much too late that I definitely started with too large a hook size, so the pouches will likely be much smaller than the test one I did initially.
I am locked, loaded, and ready to hook on! I look forward to future updates.
God bless, and see you next month.
